The Edusites programme of study for GCSE Media has been designed to provide a Core Unit for each term to help students develop the right level of knowledge and understanding of the key critical approaches and all the framework concepts of narrative, genre, representations, and spectatorship. The Exam Board Set Products are covered throughout the programme (detailed on the individual exam board pages) and supporting NEA exemplar materials.
Our GCSE Units begin at Unit 1 in your term 1 and continue through to a final revision Unit 6 in the last term.
The four areas of this theoretical framework, are:
- Media Language: how the media through their forms, codes and conventions communicate meanings
- Representation: how the media portray events, issues, individuals and social groups
- Media Industries: how the media industries’ processes of production, distribution and circulation affect media forms and platforms
- Audiences: how media forms target, reach and address audiences, how audiences interpret and respond to them, and how members of audiences become producers themselves
