The beginning

Richard Gent, the founder of Edusites, started an online collection of GCSE and A Level Media teaching resources out of frustration of a shortage of material and support for this non-core subject. The library grew through the support, networking and contribution of like-minded teachers and the subscription site MediaEdu was born.

2008

MediaEdu

By 2008, the demand for resources had increased and Richard moved from full-time teaching to developing an invaluable material library for otherwise isolated teachers. The subscription service for MediaEdu allowed Richard to invest in a wider range of resources and invite expert writers to contribute.

EnglishEdu

In response to demand, EnglishEdu was added to the Edusites family. With Media Studies often being taught by English teachers, it was a natural progression to provide the same high quality resources and support for these teachers and Heads of Departments.

2011

FilmEdu

Bringing the same strong background in learner and teacher centric resources, FilmEdu was launched to complement our Media Studies resources.

Edusites Rebranding

Following rapid subscription growth Edusites was rebranded to give a clear identity to each area:

Edusites English

Edusites Media

Edusites Film

Focusing on supporting English teachers through the 2015 specification changes to the English curriculum, Edusites ensured that our resources met these changes head on with the support that English teachers have come to expect from Edusites.

2017

Edusites Celebrates 10 Years

10 years of Edusites success was celebrated in 2017 with 2 out of 3 of the Top 100 schools in England subscribing to Edusites. 5 of the Top 10 Progress 8 schools are in fact Eduscribers.

2017 also saw the specification changes that started in English in 2015 be rolled out to both Media and Film. Edusites met these changes head on with our outstanding phone and online teacher support, and Ofqual approved resources.
